East Grand Rapids completed a busy week by dominating Brighton 16-5 Friday night at Memorial Field.
After defeating Caledonia and losing to Rockford in a weather-delayed game that spanned two nights earlier in the week, the Pioneers battled cold, rain, wind and a game group of Bulldogs on their way to a convincing victory. In a first half marred only by a disappointing performance by the clock operator, East Grand Rapids built a 9-3 halftime lead on the strength of goals from Audrey Whiteside, Mary Schumar, Emily Bergstrom, Grace Griemsman, Aneesa Berner and Maddie Meader.
In the second half, East added more goals by Whiteside and Schumar, along with a goal from Sophie Forstner off a pretty assist from Lily Montague.
For the game, Whiteside scored seven goals and Schumar added four. Lily Kate Rogers earned the victory in goal for the Pioneers.
